QVC- Feb 19th

It's QVC time again! Be sure to watch Memories Direct on QVC Feb 19th from 4-5pm ET to see these layouts featured. This time they have two great new products, paper flowers and epoxy buttons and brads. They are so easy to work with and come in wonderful colors.

The flowers can be stacked for a full look, folded and used on the edge of a page or picture, or used all by themselves with the brads included in the kit. I think they look great with buttons as centers and I also tried stacking different sizes. Since the flowers are made out of paper, they can be stamped, painted, and stapled. How cute would they be with painted polka dots? There are a bunch in the bag. I made all these layouts plus the ones above with one bag and I still have lots left over.

The epoxy buttons can also be stacked, cut, or used by themselves. I decided to punch holes in some of mine so I could loop string or ribbon through them like real buttons. The colors are great and match all kinds of layouts from bright back-to-school layouts to elegant black and white wedding layouts. They also look great with the paper flowers!

Wedding Mini Album

Here's a wedding mini album that I'm finishing up. The customer asked for fall colors, which I think worked out beautifully.

Embellished Wedding Album Cover

Here is an embellished cover of a wedding album that a customer asked for. She was having a pink wedding on the beach, so I embellished it with wide ribbon, lace, pink ribbon, pearls, and seashells including a starfish and sand dollar. The button on the frame says "forever". I can make your album cover extra special like this for a small additional charge.

Wedding Layouts

Here is the next set of layouts for the wedding album I'm working on.
This layout features rings, a little shoe, polka dotted ribbon and lace and tiny rhinestones on the title.

This layout features a custom paper piecing of calla lilies, which the bride will have in her bouquet. The flowers themselves are done with a white iridescent paper to give them a subtle glow and they have 3-D yellow stamens. I've wrapped them in ribbon to simulate a bouquet. The lighter pink paper is textured with polka dots, and of course, all the mats are stitched. The gold rub-on sayings add the final touch.

This layout is done on the white Bazzill iridescent textured cardstock, and the large purple mats feature the iridescent effect as well. Large white ribbon borders both sides and the purple patterned paper in the center is edged with purple grosgrain ribbon. The "Bride" is done in gems. The "Groom" I'm not too happy with and will redo. Both of the larger mats are tied with white polka-dot organza ribbon. Tiny gold beads add the final accent to the layout.

More Wedding Layouts

Here are a couple more wedding layouts. I've used a row of pearls along the bottom border in the first layout as well as pearl button accents for the flowers, which feature 3 layers. The smaller picture mats have three polka dot ribbon bows tied on the sides and are pop-dotted out for extra dimension.

On this layout I have created two pockets for the "save the date" card and the invitation. They are made out of a guazy pink material with satin ribbon borders. The pockets feature a gold clip on each with gold charms that say "hope" and "dream". Each attached with a mini gold baby pin. The title has a polka dot texture and has been rubbed with pink and purple chalk. The purple hearts are rubbed with gold and have a matching polka dot detail. The vellum quote features little purple flowers and is secured at the top with a purple metal bow and brad. Gold rub-on sayings and 3 tiny pearls in the corner complete the pages.

Wedding Album

Here is the album I use to make wedding scrapbooks along with a detail picture of the texture. The picture looks a little yellow, but it is more of an antique white. If you do not want the album, I would take $10 off the price making it only $200 for the 20 pages.

My suggestions for the pages would be:

cover- "Our Wedding"
page 1&2- Save the Date & Invitation
page 3&4- Shower
page 5&6- The dress & Bouquet flower
page 7&8- The ring & The shoes
page 9&10- Bridesmaids & Groomsmen (with Maid of Honor & Best Man)
page 11& 12- Family photos
page 13&14- Mr. & Mrs.
page 15&16- The kiss
page 17 & 18- The reception
back page- "The Beginning" or picture and poem.

Of course, these are all just suggestions. Albums are custom, so you tell me what you want.

Cutting the Cake

Here is my latest layout that I'm doing for a customer.

Look at all the detail. The whole title is chipboard letters, but the "cake" part is actually Tim Holtz textured grungeboard. I painted it white and went over it with a little gold rub-on to enhance the texture. Then I edged the letters in gold so they would really pop. Behind the letters, you can see the textured weave paper. And don't miss all the stitching around the mats. I handmade a little lacy border to give the 5x7 extra emphasis.

The silk flower has a pink button middle tied with string.

These are K& Co. glittered chipboard. They give a wonderful 3-D effect on the vellum tag behind them. Notice the textured dots on the vellum. There is a little organza ribbon to tie off the tag.

There's something wonderful where ever you look. I embellished the corner with these tiny Prima flowers and added a little sparkle in the center.

The flourishes are hand stamped to give the page a finished look.

Memories Direct acrylic stamps

The second product that I'm working with are acrylic stamps. They come with an acrylic block and a nice selection of inks, so all the basic colors are covered. On the first layout, I used the word stamps to make a border near the bottom and decorated the monogram.

I also used a stamp for the title under the focal picture. Notice the little doodad symbols on either side of "An Enchanted Evening"- those stamps are in the kit, too! Then I even stamped on the pictures with white ink.

On the second layout, I used some of the speaking bubbles that came with the kit along with some phrases. I thought that gave it a fun, playful look.

I also used the stamps on the orange border, and for the little phrases matted in green. There are a lot of words to choose from. Finally, I stamped "Boo" in white to give a ghostly feel.

I'm on TV- QVC!

I just got in these new products from Memories Direct. They will be featured on their show on QVC on September 23rd. My job is to show how they can be used in different ways. The first product is paper lace. This is just like it sounds, lace made out of paper. It is intricetly cut and is self-adhesive, so you don't have to worry about how you're going to adhere something so delicate. It can be used in lots of ways. I'm showing it first here on this wedding layout.

The gold strip spells out "Best Wishes". It adds elegance to the pages. Also, around the photo, the white delicate frame is made from two different styles. On the top, you'll notice the wedding bells. I actually made them from strips of paper lace as well.

Can you see the detail and dimension that the lace adds? I also added a couple folds of it on the side of the picture like you might do with ribbon. I didn't take the adhesive off of this one so the loop wouldn't stick together. I added pearls in the middle instead of brads.

It makes a nice detail.

On the second layout, I used the paper lace around the outside border, just tucking it in under the seam. It also highlights the focal picture as a frame.

The strip of pink paper lace on the ribbon along the bottom reads "Happy Birthday". There is also a paper lace strip behind the top picture and to add something special to the tag.

The pack comes with 32 rolls of lace with almost 40" of each style. There are a wide variety of colors and styles. Check back soon to see more!

New Layouts

I hate to even show these because they will look SO much better with the pictures, but I wanted to give you an idea of what I'm doing. These are two layouts I'm doing for a customer. The first is for her formal, and will look so great with the pictures because her dress matches the purple.

The second is for some ski pictures she has. The coats they are wearing are pink and green, so these colors will match wonderfully. I have a picture of her skiing for the top picture and one of her falling down for the second. When I get the pictures on, I'm going to zing them both up with some more embellishments and make them really special. I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but the snowflakes are chipboard with lots of glitter. Stay tuned for more!
